He ordered the parts after I agreed to the price.  All within 15 minutes of his arrival.  I paid 65% of the total cost of repair on the spot and will pay the balance when he returns next week with the parts to complete the job.  I have no doubt that his second trip will go just as well as the first.  UPDATE:  The repair man came this morning with the new parts, went right to work and was done 45 minutes later.  He triple checked his work and made sure the freezer drawer opened and shut properly.  He was friendly, polite and professional during both visits. Told me to let him know if I had any problems.  I paid him the balance and after he left he sent me a receipt by e-mail.  I'm very pleased with his work and will call Real Appliance Repair the next time I need appliance service.
